A Western Round-Up!

Howdy ya’ll !!!!  What does a teacher do if she needs her kids to work extra hard?  Well, this teacher offers incentives----sometimes big ones……really big ones involving parties at my house.  Ouch.  Why would I do something like that?

  Well, after Thanksgiving break I was really filled with anxiety about our Christmas program that was to be presented the following Friday night.   I knew we had a lot of new ground to cover, and I knew that the kiddos had lost some of their territory during the vacation.  Remember ya’ll-----We had one week left before our Christmas Program.   It seemed like a long road ahead, and I needed something to get them excited.    Boy howdy, they got excited and did another awesome job on their program. 

So, we fulfilled our promise last night with a western party.  Boy Howdy---we had some good ole’ fashioned cowboy fun. 

 

Yee-haw!  I even got to sit down and enjoy me some grub!  Can you believe that?  Oh yeah!  Thanks Marci for keeping Zach. 

The cowgirls arrived!  Ye-haw! 

What do you think about this grub?  Thanks Joel for having a BIG HEART and wanting to serve them something that they REALLY wanted---YOUR STEAKS.     Your steaks were delicious.  (Thanks Brother Linson for getting them started on the grill.  You helped calm my nerves.)

What about it….cowboys? 

The Linsons supplied a huge cookie cake!  Thanks so much.

How ‘bout some potatoes for dessert?  That’s what these kids had-----complete with sour cream, cheese, and gravy.  It is some mighty fine grub served right alongside a chocolate chip cookie.  You can’t get any better than that.  Well, it is a potato made of ICE CREAM.  WOOOO weee! 

   

Ole’ Sheriff Corey earned himself the honor of being voted the best dressed cowboy.  I don’t know.  The gun might have had something to do with it.   Yehaw, Corey.

These ole’ westerners even enjoyed a few western games….like riding broomstick horses….and shooting targets with water guns.

Well, if you ask this ole teacher… these kids had a mighty fun night (and so did the adults)…..and they left a mighty tired teacher at home.   

A “Wittle” Trip!

Zach loves going on little trips.  We went to Monroe this weekend to hear some of Joel’s favorite southern gospel singers…..Guy Penrod, the Dove Brothers, Triumphant, Jeff and Sherry Easter, and many more. 

We had a great time just getting to be together as a family.  Zach had a great time on his little trip and looks forward to the next one. 

Christmas 2009

 

Well, as this season draws to a close and the time to go back to school returns,  I thought I’d recount a little of  about this year’s season.  Joel, Zach, and I enjoyed some Christmas during Thanksgiving week in Branson.  We hurried home so that I could practice, practice, practice…..

with the kids to present Joyland on December 4 and 6th.  The kids came through and did an awesome job.  I didn’t get any awesome pictures of this year’s program….That’s not fun. 

  

 

During that busy 1st week of December, I managed to practice and decorate for Christmas. 

I was a little later than I like to be on buying and wrapping gifts.  But that didn’t matter.  I got it all done anyway.

Joel, Zach, and I went to Dallas to see the ICE display.  We had a great time being together and enjoying the Christmas display. 

I tried and tried to take Christmas pictures of Zach.  I kept getting pictures that looked like this.  Oh, well!  It’s cute anyway. 

 

Our school kids were ready to be out for Christmas.  So, on Friday, the 19th, we had a party.  Our kids found their own props and reenacted the Christmas story.  What fun they had.  Don’t you like Luke’s crown?

We enjoyed grilled hamburgers at Nana’s while MeMe was here. 

We partied in juniors.  What fun the kids had. 

We enjoyed getting to see Joel’s MeMe.  She took the kids to Target to get to pick out their own Christmas gifts.  Can’t you imagine the fun they had?

Nana and Papaw and the grandkids stopped for a picture together.  Sara had to pose in a way that only she can. 

After church that night, we headed to the Robinson’s to have Christmas with MeMe before she left. 

 

Joel tried to surprise me with a new dishwasher.  However, the first time he tried the bottom came out and water went all over the floor.  He tried again Christmas week.  He thought I was gone…..I was still home.  He was not too thrilled.  Oh well I liked it.  The plumber had a little assistant…..

 

On Christmas Eve we enjoyed gumbo and meat pies at the Eguias.  We spent the night at the Robinson’s and opened gifts there Christmas morning. 

 

Why does Zach look this way on Christmas morning?  No, it wasn’t because he didn’t like his gifts.  It was because…..

he didn’t like the gift in Sara’s baby’s diaper after she and Papaw fed it.  I think Papaw needs a baby like this next year. 

Well, it is so good to be able to spend time with friends and family.  Zach is sure enjoying an old and new gift at the same time.  He is sitting in his little red car playing his “PS” he got for Christmas.
